Pillar 3

Governance

Good governance is a critical factor in strengthening any system. Without good governance, the impacts of any initiative will be slowed down, not realized, or won’t be sustainable in the long term. Good governance is essential to ensure that resources are used efficiently and effectively, and that the benefits of any initiative are shared equitably. It also helps to build trust and confidence among stakeholders, which is essential for the success of any innovation for development.

Legislative analysis

As a way to innovate and influence legislative reforms, We partner with parliamentary institutions to conduct Post-Legislative Scrutiny (PLS). PLS is the practice of monitoring the implementation and evaluating the impact of laws. The aim is to ensure that laws benefit citizens in the way originally intended by lawmakers.

Electoral action

Electoral action refers to the process of electing representatives to govern a country. It is a fundamental component of democratic governance, as it facilitates citizens to select leaders and hold them accountable as duty bearers.

CIDE actively participates in programs aimed at fostering the involvement and engagement of underrepresented communities, including women, youth, and individuals with disabilities, to enable their active and meaningful participation in electoral processes. We also develop actions aimed to motivate first time voters especially youths, to consider voting as a crucial governance and democratic responsibility. Additionally, we participate in election monitoring to continuously learn from and improve electoral practices, ultimately contributing to free and fair elections.
